All UK drivers have been issued a warning as the national database is appearing to show that all cars are uninsured.
It is not known what has caused the issue but thousands of cars are popping up as uninsured on the AskMID website this morning, Saturday, September 23.
The Motor Insurers’ Bureau has said it’s working to fix the issue and data used by police on the roadside remains unaffected.
AskMID has issued the following statement, it said: “NO. This vehicle is NOT showing as insured on the Motor Insurance Database today. If your vehicle details are NOT on the Motor Insurance Database you are at risk of being fined and facing court prosecution.”
On X, formerly known as Twitter, @DriveInsured, the official page of Motor Insurers’ Bureau, said: “We’re aware of an issue with askMID showing vehicles as uninsured. This is affecting the public facing side of the service but the data used by police at the roadside is unaffected.
“We’re confident no data has been compromised and working to resolve the situation asap.”
