Matildas Olympic squad announced, coach Tony Gustavsson speaks

Matildas coach Tony Gustavsson will speak in Sydney on Tuesday morning after revealing his squad for next month’s Olympic Games in Paris.

The World Cup semi-finalists tuned up for the Games with two friendlies against China: a 1-1 draw in Adelaide last Friday before Monday’s 2-0 win at a sold-out Stadium Australia in Sydney.

All eyes will be on whether Gustavsson gambles on the fitness of Women’s Super League duo Caitlin Foord and Katrina Gorry. Arsenal star Foord picked up an injury in the first China match and lasted just 15 minutes after joining the match from the bench, while West Ham midfielder Gorry had surgery in April on the ankle injury which ruled her out of the Irons’ WSL campaign.
