Police in Halifax have uncovered a terrifying weapons haul including a brutal ‘zombie knife’ after a drugs stop in the town.
Offiicers deployed on what is known as Operation Heelfield were patrolling the Ovenden area when they came across three males acting suspiciously in a vehicle. One of the suspects tried to flee the scene but was chased down and apprehended.
Officers found a stash of drugs and cash at the scene and a further search of an address uncovered weapons including axes, bats and knives. West Yorkshire Police said its enquiries were ongoing into the matter.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “Yesterday officers were deployed on Op Heelfield in the Ovenden area when they saw three males acting suspiciously in a vehicle. Unfortunately for the one who decided to run away with the goods…. he didn’t realise he was up against what can only be described as a uniformed athlete.
“He ran, and ran, and ran, only to turn around and see the officer stood behind him. All three were detained and searched and what a little treasure trove was to be found, drugs, cannabis edibles and cash.
“Officers then went to search the addresses of the males and found further incriminating evidence, as well as several weapons, axe’s bats and knives. The pictured zombie knife was found hidden under the mattress of one of them for good measure.
“Also at one of the addresses the pictured scooter was recovered bearing false plates, reported stolen from Huddersfield in August. Enquiries ongoing into the matter.”
