Manly Sea Eagles prop Josh Aloiai facing ban for trip on Penrith Panthers fullback Daine Laurie

Ravalawa has scored 67 tries in 96 NRL games for the Dragons, but his future under Shane Flanagan is uncertain after losing his spot in the NRL side, which has scored back-to-back wins against the Panthers and Tigers.

Manly’s Aloiai facing ban for blatant trip

Manly’s Josh Aloiai is the latest player to be caught up in the NRL’s tripping scourge, facing a two-game ban for a deliberate attempt to stop Penrith’s Daine Laurie in an attacking situation.

Aloiai, one of the Sea Eagles’ best players this year, was charged with a grade two dangerous contact charge on Monday by the NRL’s match review committee after a blatant attempt to haul down Laurie during Sunday’s game at BlueBet Stadium.

After handing out several fines this season for tripping, the match review committee has proposed its sternest sanction yet. The Samoan international is poised to miss matches against the Dragons and Rabbitohs in the next fortnight.

He will miss three games if he unsuccessfully fights the charge at the judiciary.

Aloiai stuck his leg out to impede Laurie as the Panthers No.1 made a run to support an Izack Tago break in the dying minutes of Penrith’s victory.

It wasn’t the only bad news for Anthony Seibold’s side from the match, with Nathan Brown facing an $1800 fine for a hair pull on Jarome Luai.

The former State of Origin forward grabbed Luai’s locks when attempting to make a tackle, sparking a furious reaction from Penrith players and gifting the Panthers an easy penalty goal early in the second half.

Brown was hit with a grade one contrary conduct charge, but will be free to play the Dragons at Brookvale on Sunday.

The Sea Eagles surrendered their spot in the top eight with defeat at Penrith despite Tommy Talau’s four-try effort.
