AC Milan v AS Roma

Eight AC Milan players, including France’s No. 9 and Denmark’s captain, are competing at Euro 2024 in Germany this summer.

AC Milan might have less Euro 2024 call-ups than league rivals Inter Milan and Juventus, but they are still well represented at the international tournament. Although the players could not secure any trophies in the 2023/24 Serie A season, they still have time to chase glory on one of the biggest stages in soccer, especially since each of the selected participants will play pivotal roles for their countries.

Here’s a breakdown of every AC Milan player competing at Euro 2024.

Forwards:

Noah Okafor has a big responsibility up front for Switzerland at Euro 2024. As long as the AC Milan forward capitalizes on his chances in the final third, then there is a good chance Switzerland can hold their own against Scotland and Hungary and advance to the Round of 16.

Defenders:

Denmark’s captain is as solid as they come on the back line. Under his leadership, Denmark reached the semifinals at Euro 2020, but it was his OG that helped propel England to the finals. Three years later, he will look to redeem himself in the historic tournament.

Forwards:

Although Luka Jovic’s time at Real Madrid did not live up to expectations, the Serbian has found his footing at AC Milan. He netted nine goals in all competitions in the 2023/24 season, and helped his side finish second in Serie A.

Jovic and Aleksandar Mitrovic will need to produce for Serbia if they want to overcome England, Denmark, and Slovenia in Group C.

Forwards:

Mike Maignan is France’s undisputed starting goalkeeper as long as he is healthy. The 2022 Serie A champion injured his thigh muscle back in April, but should be ready to play by France’s first match on June 17.

At 39 years old, Olivier Giroud is still France’s No. 9, and whether he starts or comes off the bench, the AC Milan star will look to create some highlight reel moments with Kylian Mbappé. Giroud will leave AC Milan this summer to join Major League Soccer team LAFC.

Midfielders:

Tijjani Reijnders gives Ronald Koeman extra midfield depth at Euro 2024. Although he is not as heralded as Frenkie de Jong, Reijnders proved that he can find the back of the net for both club and country this past year.

Forwards:

If Cristiano Ronaldo struggles to find his form at Euro 2024, then Portugal have players like Rafael Leão who can step up in the attack. Leão scored two goals at the World Cup 2022, and one in the Euro Qualifiers, along with two assists.
